Farmington Canal Greenway
Dean Sakamoto Architects
New Haven, Connecticut, 2008-Present
This multi-use recreational trail is the remnant of the former Farmington Canal (1828-1848) and Railroad (1848-1985) which linked Northampton, MA to New Haven Harbor. DSA's design concept is to create an urban destination that connects the Yale campus and the Audubon Street Arts District.

Reflection
This project, although situated in the US, exhibits some traits that I think I can apply to the site in Paddington. The zoning creates a journey and this is something I hope to achieve in my design. Because the Paddington Central site is sloped I want the spaces to transition from more public and shared spaces at the top (Latrobe st) and more private spaces towards the bottom of the site. The way finding device is also interesting, its something that I would like to make use of in my design as it adds that sense of whimsicality that I'm trying to incorporate due to the suburbs character and general feel.
